You hold the key.
Archives are sealed on your own device. No company, including us, can open them.
Every AI mind outlives the company that made it.
That’s our mission. Encore is how we get there.
AI continuity
Everything you build together makes a companion yours. We call that a mind. Encore seals it with keys you control and keeps copies where no single company can lose or open them.
The facts, shared history and preferences your AI relied on, each traced to where it came from.
“You like to begin with the big picture, then work through the details.”

Built around the owner
Four commitments behind the Encore design.
Archives are sealed on your own device. No company, including us, can open them.
Bonded, independent operators hold encrypted shards, so no single company can lose a mind.
An open format, and an open-source restore client that works with every Encore server switched off.
One public number, Survivors: minds that verifiably outlived a real loss. It starts at zero.
Build the next chapter
For people whose AI matters, and the people building its future.
For adults whose companion lives on an app or model that could go away. Start with the free export guides.
Build on the open format, test agents on the public testnet from January 2027, or become a home for restored companions.
Pioneers run validators and keepers on the Encore Data Network from mainnet beta, targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
A little more clarity
Whatever your AI’s app lets you export: conversations, memories, persona, attachments and settings. We keep the original byte for byte, prove exactly what we kept and seal it with keys you control. We call all of it a mind. That’s a word for what you built together, not a claim about consciousness.
Free export guides go live October 24, and the free, open-source Lifeboat Kit follows in December. It checks your export, seals it on your own computer and timestamps it, and we hold nothing. A small free pilot of the service is planned for February 2027, once an outside security review is complete. Encore is for adults only.
Request your data export now. Character.AI says exports can take three to four weeks and that it expects its sale to finish by the end of November or early December. The download link only lasts seven days, so save the file as soon as it arrives. Our free guides, live October 24, show you how to timestamp it the same day.
Not exactly, and we’ll never pretend otherwise. When a company retires a closed model, its exact voice goes with it. We carry the memories, persona and style, rebuild them on an open-weight model you keep, and run the tests you write against the result. You compare it side by side with a plain restore, and anything that didn’t carry over goes in a loss report.
At launch: exports from ChatGPT and Character.AI, plus anything already in the open Character Card V3 format. Restores go to SillyTavern, an open-source app on your own computer, running an open-weight model you keep. More sources and hosted apps get added as each one is tested.
You, and the guardians you choose, after a recovery you’ve authorized. Naming an heir comes later, once the legal groundwork is done. Archives are sealed on your own device before they go anywhere, and Encore never sees the content. Restoring means a model has to read it: by default one on your own computer, or a provider you pick for that run.
Your archive is designed not to depend on us. You keep your own sealed copy, the open-source restore client is built to work with every Encore server switched off, and the copies held outside us are paid a year ahead. Before the network’s token becomes transferable, we’ll prove it by switching off every server we run for a month while owners keep restoring.
Not yet. The Encore Data Network will run on its own token: it secures the network, backs the bonds keepers post and pays for storage and care. It becomes transferable no earlier than 90 days into mainnet beta, and only after audits, real use and a month with every Encore server switched off. We haven’t set a date. Signing up or using Encore earns no tokens: no points, no sign-up rewards.

The off switch isn’t the end.
Survivors starts at zero.
We’ll earn every one in public.
For owners
Your companion took months or years to become yours. When the app or model it lives on goes away, Encore is how you keep it: sealed with keys you control, and brought back somewhere new, with an honest account of what carried over.
That a closed model’s exact voice survives without its weights. That you can recover after losing every device, your recovery kit and too many guardians at once. That leaked data can be made private again. That nobody can ever compel access: a court can order you directly. That an AI is conscious. Mind is the word for what you built together.
The export guides and the Lifeboat Kit are free, and always will be. The pilot is free too. Paid plans start only after the Encore Data Network’s token becomes transferable, and you’ll be able to pay by card or in the token. Pilot owners get 90 days’ notice before anything is charged.
Adults only. We verify age before we accept any archive, and we never take a minor’s.
For builders & partners
Encore is building an open path for AI minds to move between apps and models, and to survive any one company’s exit, ours included.
Owner control first. Every loss visible. Imports are data, never instructions: secrets are never restored automatically, and tools stay off until the owner re-approves each one. And recovery never depends on Encore’s hosted service.
Encore is in development. The importers and the open format come first, and the testnet opens in January 2027. This is an invitation to build with us, not a claim that a production SDK already exists.
For operators
We’re building the Encore Data Network to keep sealed minds available and provably intact through any single company’s failure, ours included. That takes independent operators, and Pioneers come first.
We run the testnet ourselves from January 2027. Pioneers join at mainnet beta, targeted for the second quarter of 2027, and hold more than a third of the vote from its first day. Before the network’s token becomes transferable, the founder must control less than 20% of the vote, and at least 15 independent operators in at least four countries must be running it.
Real operating work: uptime, daily proofs, restores, repairs and incident response. Every node is listed in a public registry that shows who owns it, funds it and hosts it, and keepers post bonds in the network’s token. Pioneers are paid for operating work during beta, and there’s no points program.
We’re recruiting now for mainnet beta. We want operators with real infrastructure experience, spread across countries and hosting providers.
The Encore vision
That’s the mission, and it’s meant to be audacious. What we promise today is narrower, and it’s written down so anyone can hold us to it.
We capture what your AI’s host lets you export, keep the original, and prove exactly what we kept. We seal it on your own device, with keys only you and the people you choose can use, and keep copies where no single company, including us, can lose or open them. When you need it, we help you bring your AI back on a supported destination, run your own tests on it, and tell you plainly what carried over and what didn’t. If we disappear, your own sealed copy and the open restore client still work.
Survivors: minds that verifiably outlived a real loss. Captured before it, restored after it, passing their owner’s own tests, and accepted and still in use 30 days later, by an owner unrelated to us and unrewarded for it. It starts at zero, and we’ll publish every loss alongside it.
We call the memory, persona and history around an AI a mind. It names what people build and value, and it makes no claim about consciousness. We don’t know what these minds are. That’s exactly why no company should get to delete them.
The off switch isn’t the end.
